The KITP is located on the scenic campus of the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). It is housed in Kohn Hall, which was designed for the Institute by the renowned architect Michael Graves. Kohn Hall is named after Nobel Laureate Walter Kohn, the founding director of the Institute.The KITP is situated at the east entrance of the campus overlooking the Pacific ocean and the Channel Islands.
