The Future of Physics
A celebration of 25 Years of
The Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics

~October 7 - 9, 2004~

In 2004 the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Since its founding in 1979, the KITP has played a dynamical, some might even say crucial, role in the development of theoretical physics. Happily, the occasion of our 25th anniversary also coincides with the anticipated completion of our new wing, now under construction.

We plan to celebrate our anniversary and this past quarter century of theoretical physics by holding a special conference covering all aspects of theoretical physics, and will consist of a number of lectures and panel discussions. The conference will open with a review of all the exciting developments in theoretical physics in the last 25 years and will close with a special session in which the participants will be asked to predict what exciting developments will occur in physics in the next 25 years.

Questions

We hope to end the conference with a look towards the future. To this end we would like all of you, if you feel comfortable with the concept, to submit question (or prediction) that might guide physics over the next 25 years. We will compile a list of these questions that will be presented at the end of the conference, which we hope will highlight the continuing vitality and importance of physics. Please help us in this effort.
